Edmonton is on a roll right now. There have been more jobs created here than anywhere else in Canada, and businesses invested more than $3.3 billion in our city last year alone.
But there's a catch. If you own a business in Edmonton, you're paying almost double what you'd pay just outside city limits for the exact same kind of property. This fall, City Council starts building the budget that runs Edmonton from 2027 to 2030, the most consequential decision our city council makes during their term.
Over the summer, senior Edmonton business leaders formed the Chamber's Fiscal Task Force, applying a business lens to City spending. For every dollar, we asked if it was the best use of that money? Their work built on months of engagement with Edmonton's business community, six councillor roundtables, two member surveys, and direct conversations with the businesses across the city. The result is Back on Track: Edmonton Chamber's Business Budget, the business community’s perspective on where the City should stop spending altogether, where it should spend smarter, and what it should prioritize to actually move Edmonton forward.
Join Edmonton Chamber President & CEO, Doug Griffiths, and members of the Fiscal Task Force as they unveil the Business City Budget publicly for the first time.
