The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Public Spaceworks Edmonton to bring a new kind of public space to the heart of downtown.

The project, called The Greens, is a proof of concept public space transforming an underutilized site along Jasper Avenue into an innovative community hub for all generations.

This space is designed to support downtown both as a destination and as a neighbourhood. The goal for the Greens is to bring accessible community amenities to residents, office workers, and visitors. The space includes seating, play elements, food and beverage, and, most importantly, a dedicated Place Manager to ensure it remains active, safe, and welcoming.

The Greens is a new mode for how the private sector can create high-quality public spaces quickly and effectively.

About Public Spaceworks Edmonton

Edmonton is a city defined by its spaces. We celebrate our river valley, gather at countless outdoor festivals, and make memories on playgrounds and sports fields. Yet many of our most visible and valuable sites remain underused, dominated by one activity, or simply waiting to become something more. 

At a time when downtown is evolving, there is a clear opportunity: to invest not just in infrastructure, but in experience. To create places that invite people in, support local business, and establish a sense of belonging. 

Public Spaceworks Edmonton was created to do exactly that. Inspired by leading models in many Canadian cities our goal is to build, curate, and manage exceptional space starting in the downtown and expanding to all parts of the city.
