Description
Join us on Monday, June 21, with our Minister of Indigenous Relations, Hon. Rick Wilson for National Indigenous Peoples Day. The tone and tenor of the conversation surrounding residential schools in Canada has changed since the horrific news emanating from Kamloops in late May. Minister Wilson will discuss the importance of engaging with First Nations and Metis communities on reconciliation and what the GOA is doing to pursue and fulfill this most important of goals.
He will also note how the province is working to ensure the Indigenous workforce is an integral part of Alberta's economic recovery. Following his formal presentation, guests will have an opportunity to submit questions to Minister Wilson for a dedicated Q&A period.
Supporting Local Indigenous Investments
The Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation (AIOC) continues to build strong connections with Indigenous communities across the province. Minister Wilson will highlight several success stories of the AIOC, and acknowledge the outstanding contributions these communities have made in various natural resource projects.
Please confirm your attendance by Friday, June 18, @ 4:00 PM. This webinar event will be hosted via Zoom, and a unique link will be emailed to all registrants 12-24 hours prior to this event.

About our Speaker:
Minister Wilson was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta on April 16, 2019, as the MLA for Maskwacîs-Wetaskiwin. Soon after, he was appointed as Alberta's Indigenous Relations Minister on April 30, 2019.
Wilson brings an extensive record of public service to the legislature, including: 15 years as County Councillor with County of Wetaskiwin, seven years as Chairman of Crossroads Regional Health Authority, six years as Member of the Western Canadian Agriculture Debt Review Board, five years as School Board Trustee with Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools and decades as a local business owner and farmer.
