This panel discussion not only celebrates women in business but allows you to hear directly from some of the region's business trailblazers, from green tech innovations, and socially sustainable apparel, to a sweet supplier to the Oscars.

This panel is sure to motivate, inspire, and empower you!

About our Speakers:
Connie Stacey
B.A.Founder and President, Growing Greener Innovations (GGI)
Connie holds a B.A. from the University of Alberta, a diploma in computer programming and a PMP certification. She brings 20 years of experience from the IT/computer programming sectors to her work at GGI. She founded GGI in 2014 with a desire to create a better generator--silent, no fumes, no carbon emissions. Upon developing the patented GRENGINE™ rechargeable battery generator, she expanded into battery energy storage solutions (BESS). GGI is one of Canada’s top battery manufacturers.
Connie is on the steering committee of NAIT’s Centre for Grid Innovation, has been named to the Globe and Mail’s 50 Top Changemakers list of 2021 and received Global Woman of Vision and World Changing Women awards. She recently won The Forum's 2020/2021 Odlum Brown Pitch for the Purse event and is a frequent speaker at clean technology, energy and women in tech events. GGI has been awarded a U.S. Defense Innovation Award, CGLCC Business of the Year award, and a CANIEs Product Innovation Award
Claire Theaker-Brown
Director and Founder, Unbelts
Claire Theaker-Brown launched her company Unbelts from her living room in Shanghai, China in 2011. Since returning home to Edmonton in 2014, she has been a vocal advocate for equitable entrepreneurship and ethical apparel community-building; launching cloth masks as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic has allowed Unbelts to give over 30,000 masks to Alberta schools, organizations, and families in need. Claire is a former TEDxShanghai presenter on the urgent need for socially sustainable apparel jobs worldwide, and Unbelts was Western Canada's first apparel company to become a Certified B Corporation. Claire lives in Ritchie with her husband Carl and spirited kidlets Pen and Theo.
Kathy Leskow
Founder, Confetti Sweets
Kathy Leskow, founder of Confetti Sweets, was a stay-at-home mom with a sweet tooth and big ambitions. She started off baking cookies in her home kitchen and selling them at local farmer’s markets. In 2014, Kathy secured a storefront for Confetti Sweets in Sherwood Park and now employs a team of 25. Kathy has expanded her reach in Alberta and now sells her cookie mix at grocery stores throughout the province. During Covid she branched out and founded Confetti Collective where they sell curated local food from small producers. Kathy has a commerce degree from the University of Lethbridge with a major in marketing and has experience in the event planning and hospitality industries. She is no longer found scooping cookie dough and baking, but working on growing the business and seizing all opportunities that come her way.
