Description
All aboard for a ride through history! Streetcar Saturday is rolling into Fort Edmonton Park for a special one-day celebration of electric streetcars, steam trains, and more vintage transit magic. This year’s highlight? The public debut of two fully restored historic streetcars – the beautiful Regina 42, built in 1928, and the rare Saskatoon 200, a unique 1907 snow sweeper and line car. After nearly 30 years of restoration by the amazing volunteers at the Edmonton Radial Railway Society, these streetcars are finally ready to shine! Event Highlights: Streetcar Parades (10:00 AM & 1:00 PM) – For the first time ever, see the entire heritage streetcar fleet roll down the tracks in a can’t-miss parade! Ride the restored Regina 42 – Take a ride on this 1928 gem and experience history in motion. Peek Behind the Scenes – Go on a guided tour of the streetcar barn and see how the magic happens. Live Restoration Demos – Watch real-time work being done on Edmonton 65. Ask a Streetcar Expert – Chat with ERRS volunteers and discover cool stories from streetcar days gone by. Perfect photo ops for the whole family! Whether you’re a transit enthusiast, history lover, or just looking for a unique day out with the kids, Streetcar Saturday promises a journey you won’t forget. Plus, explore the rest of Fort Edmonton Park’s historical streets and Indigenous Peoples Experience, hop aboard a steam train, and experience life through the eras, from 1846 to the 1920s.
