About Us

Desserts by Chayil is a proud startup based in Southwest Edmonton, Alberta, born out of a passion for baking, love for flowers, and a deep-rooted connection to community and tradition.
Our journey began in rural Jamaica, where life was simple but rich with meaning. Growing up, our family lived off the land as farmers, eating what we grew and growing what we ate. The kitchen was always alive with activity, as my mother brought us children alongside her to bake, cook, and create treats like cakes, puddings, jams, and jellies. These were not just for us but for sharing with our community, especially during the festive Christmas season. The abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables shaped my understanding of flavor and inspired a lifelong love of baking and cooking.
Afternoons spent with my father tending to our meticulously kept flower garden sparked another passion—flowers. Their beauty, precision, and ability to brighten any space were captivating.
Years later, after migrating to Canada, I kept the tradition alive, baking treats for family, friends, and coworkers. The encouragement I received from those who enjoyed my creations inspired me to turn my passion into something bigger. Combining my love for baking and flowers, the vision for Desserts by Chayil became clear: handcrafted gourmet cupcakes, made with love and the finest ingredients, designed to elevate the dessert experience one cupcake at a time.
