About Us

Conveniently located in the heart of Edmonton’s vibrant Arts District, the Francis Winspear Centre for Music, built in 1997, is Alberta’s premier music performance venue and is home to the critically acclaimed Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Tommy Banks Centre for Musical Creativity.

The concert hall is considered acoustically perfect and features the stunning, custom-built Davis Concert Organ, the largest pipe organ in a music venue in Canada. The Winspear is also the first venue in Canada to own and operate the state-of-the-art L-Acoustics' L Series loudspeaker system which provides unapparelled sound clarity for amplified concerts and events.

Attracting Grammy Award-winning artists like Brandi Carlisle, Bryan Adams, John Legend and Michael Bublé, as well as up-and-coming stars like Sabrina Carpenter; and world-famous comedians like Jim Gaffigan and Sarah Millican, the Winspear Centre offers big entertainment in an intimate setting with second-to-none hospitality.

The Winspear is committed to fulfilling the need to make and share music by offering a wide variety of music education programs for all ages, including the Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta (YONA) which offers students in priority neighbourhoods free access to music education five days a week during critical after-school hours.

Every year the Winspear Centre welcomes over 250,000 people from all over the world – and is ready to build on that legacy. A significant expansion of the organization is currently underway and will transform the Winspear into a world-class music centre for everyone.
