About Us

Next Architecture (2008) was born out of Rule Wynn and Rule (1938), one of the longest continuously operating architectural firms in Alberta. We have deliberately set out to extend their bold vision and audacious commitment to innovation by adopting and inventing technologies and processes that enable increasing cost certainty, schedule predictability and preservation of quality for our clients and collaborators.

Comprised of 19 expert team players, Next is continuously designing the future of the architectural industry and built environment. We work collaboratively with local, national and even international specialists to contribute to and facilitate the constructability of beautiful, functional and technically sound building designs that not only endure, but thrive in our unique climate.

Our record includes designing pre-fabricated and modularized high-performance buildings such as the stunning and complex Art Gallery of Alberta Renovation and Addition (2010) which was $2M under budget; the Edmonton Law Courts Galleria Replacement (2020) which was completed while the courts were kept operational for multiple years; and the first office building in the province to incorporate LEED v4, WELL Building Standard, and NECB 2011 - the AUPE Headquarters (2021).
