About Us

Alberta Dreams is the only wish-granting organization dedicated solely to Alberta children with a severe chronic or life-threatening medical illness, setting us apart from similar organizations in Canada, making Alberta Dreams an essential resource for chronically ill children who do not qualify for a wish under other programs.

Put simply, we make dreams come true for sick kids and their families in Alberta. Whether it be a family trip abroad, a flight over the Rockies, an accessible bike to explore with, or a furry friend to keep them company, if it’s possible, we work to make it happen.

Having a dream fulfilled can bring a welcome respite from the stress and pressure of dealing with illness. It’s a break from the daily hardship of being ill – a break for the entire family. Having a dream fulfilled can make kids and their families feel better emotionally and physically, giving them increased strength and courage to battle their illness and the daily challenges it brings while highlighting the good in the world.

We have a long history here. Alberta Dreams began as the Rainbow Society of Alberta and has served the community for nearly 40 years, commencing operations in 1986 with a group of dedicated volunteers. While much has changed over the last forty years, our longevity is proof of our ability to deliver effectively for sick kids.
