The KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE) is an experiential teaching tool based on participatory popular education methodology that explores the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in the land we now know as Canada.
The KBE is built on the foundation of long-standing, collaborative initiatives and relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples to raise awareness of continuing injustices and impacts of colonization and to promote further learning.
Facilitated by Bigstone Cree Nation member Ian Hopfe a Human Resources and Indigenous Relations Consultant and his wife Corinthé Stolee-Hopfe.
You may be standing for 45 minutes to 1.5 hours but it's okay for elderly or physically challenged people to use a chair/walker/wheelchair during the exercise.
Trigger Warning: This workshop covers sensitive topics like genocide, smallpox pandemics, the 60's scoop, residential schools, and murdered or missing indigenous women and two-spirit peoples.
- 15 Participants Minimum
- 50 Participants Maximum
- You supply space for a large circle of chairs with open area in the middle.
- Regular investment for the KBE training is $1,500+tax.
- Chamber members save $150 per presentation.
